Slides in Explain Everything are there to help you divide your project into parts or chapters. Every one of them has an infinite canvas and is independent from the others.
Slide basics
- Each slide is a separate infinite canvas.
- You can use slides as chapters or parts of your recording.
- You can create a separate recording for each slide as they have independent Timelines.
- When you share your project as a video, recordings from all slides will be stitched together consecutively.

Add a new slide
If you need a separate whiteboard, presentation or video, you can add an extra slide to your project.
- While in a project, select Add New Slide from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- A new slide will be added after the active one.
Note: If you're in a cloud project, start a collaboration from a local project, or start a new project from a File, you will be able to choose a template for your slide when selecting Add New Slide.
Note: If your project contains slide(s) added from a template, selecting Add New Slide will add a new slide with the recently chosen template. To add a blank slide to your project, select Slide Sorter -> the + icon in the top left-hand corner of the Slide Sorter -> All Templates -> Whiteboard.

- Select + in the top left-hand corner of the Slide Sorter to add a new slide.
- Choose a template for your slide.
- A new slide with the chosen template will be added after the active one.

Delete slides
If you’d like to get rid of the slides in your project, you can delete them.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- To open slide editing options, select Edit.
- Select the slide (or slides) you'd like to remove.
- To remove the slides, select Delete.
- Select Delete to confirm deleting of your slide(s).
If you’d like to get rid of the slides in your project, you can delete them.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- To open slide editing options, select Edit.
- Select the slide (or slides) you'd like to remove.
- To remove the slides, select Delete.
- Select Remove item(s) to confirm deleting of your slide(s).

Change the order of slides
If you’d like to reorganize the content you created on each slide in your project, you can change the order of slides in your project.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- Touch and hold on a slide that you'd like to move.
- Once it goes up, you'll be able to change its position.
- Release the slide to confirm the new order.
If you’d like to reorganize the content you created on each slide in your project, you can change the order of slides in your project.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- Select and hold on a slide that you'd like to move.
- Once it goes up, you'll be able to change its position.
- Release the slide to confirm the new order.
If you’d like to reorganize the content you created on each slide in your project, you can change the order of slides in your project.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- Select Edit.
- Hover the cursor on the ↔ left-right arrow icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the slide’s thumbnail.
- Click and hold on it to move a slide left or right.
- Select Done to confirm the new order.
Duplicate slides
If you’d like to make a copy of a slide with the content you created, you can duplicate slides in your project.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- To open slide editing options, select Edit.
- Select the slide (or slides) you'd like to duplicate.
- To duplicate the slide, select Duplicate.
- If the slide you're trying to duplicate has a recording, you'll be able to choose whether you'd like to duplicate the slide with or without it.
- A duplicate of the selected slide will be added after it.
If you’d like to make a copy of a slide with the content you created, you can duplicate slides in your project.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- To open slide editing options, select Edit.
- Select the slide (or slides) you'd like to duplicate.
- To duplicate the slide, select Duplicate.
- If the slide you're trying to duplicate has a recording, you'll be able to choose whether you'd like to duplicate the slide with or without it.
- A duplicate of the selected slide will be added after it.
If you’d like to make a copy of a slide with the content you created, you can duplicate slides in your project.

Change the background color for a single slide
If you’d like to modify the color setting of a chosen slide in your project, you can change the background color for one slide.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- To open slide editing options, select Edit.
- Select the slide you'd like to change the background for.
- To open the background editor, select the Palette button.
- Here you can select a Pattern style on the left, switch between picking a color for the Pattern and the Background at the top, and select a color with one of the Palettes on the right.
- For precise color selection, choose the HEX Color Palette under the # icon, enter the desired color value, and select Done.
- Choose ✔ Done in the upper right-hand corner to apply the background style to the selected slide.
If you’d like to modify the color setting of a chosen slide in your project, you can change the background color for one slide.
- While in a project, select Slide Sorter from the control bar in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Create a custom background from an image
If you’d like to vary the background surrounding of the slides in your project, you can create your own background from an image.
- Add an image to a slide.
- Select Hand Tool and scale the image as you need (it may cover the whole screen or the recording frame).
- You can double-tap the image to straighten it out.
- From the Toolbar, select the Inspector.
- Tap the image once to select it.
- Head to the Edit tab of the Inspector.
- Select Set as Background to set the image as the background.
If you’d like to vary the background surrounding of the slides in your project, you can create your own background from an image.
