You can record your voice in Explain Everything using professional audio equipment, like studio microphones.
What will you need?
- An external audio interface, like Focusrite Scarlett, Native Instruments Komplete Audio or Universal Audio Apollo Twin
- A microphone of your choice
- Headphones of your choice
- If you have an iPad or iPhone with a Lightning port, you will need a Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. If you have an iPad with a USB C port, you might need to get a USB to USB-C adapter or a USB-C to USB-C cable.
- You might also need to get a Powered USB Hub to power your audio interface if it can’t be powered by your iPad (or iPhone) alone.

How to connect?
- If you have an iPad with a Lightning port
- connect the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter to your iPad
- Connect the audio interface (like Focusrite Scarlett) to the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter via provided USB cable. - If you have an iPad with a USB-C port
- you might need to get a USB to USB-C adapter (if your audio interface does not support USB-C) or use a special USB-C to USB-C cable (if your audio interface supports USB-C).
- Connect the audio interface (like Focustrite Scarlett) to the iPad via the USB cable. - Connect your microphone to the audio interface. You should be able to use it now to record your voice in Explain Everything. Connect your headphones to the audio interface to hear what’s been recorded.
- If you see the “This accessory requires too much power” error message, you will need a special powered USB hub to provide power to your audio interface.
- Connect your powered USB hub to the power source.
- Connect the main port of the powered USB hub to your iPad, either through a Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter or directly.
- Connect your audio interface to one of the other ports of the powered USB hub.
