Insert text – Explain Everything Help Center

The Text Tool allows you to insert editable text into your project. This means that you can format the text once you’ve put it into your Text Box. You can choose the font style and size, adjust the color, align your text, apply super and subscripts, as well as use bold and italics options. The Text Box itself can be adjusted, scaled (with all its content) and moved about the canvas.

You don’t have to worry about making a mistake, as you can go back to your Text Box at any time and apply changes.

Text basics

Select an existing Text Box with the Hand Tool to activate and edit it.
Move, scale, or modify Text Boxes with the Hand Tool.

Add a text box to your canvas

Select the Text Tool from the Toolbar.
Tap where you'd like your Text Box to be. You can also drag across the canvas to immediately set the size of the Text Box.
Type in or paste the text you want to display.

Note: System keyboards open when you insert text on an iOS device.

Change text color

Change the text color for an entire Text Box

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to change the color for.
From the Context Menu select the Font color.
Select a color to apply it.

Change the color of selected text

Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select Edit.
Select the part of the text that you'd like to change the color for.
Select the Color Picker from the formatting options above the keyboard.
Select a color to apply it.

Select Border from the formatting options above the keyboard.

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to add border to.
Select Edit.
Select the ABorder from the floating tool Dock.

Change the font style

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select Edit.
Select the part of the text that you'd like to change the font for.
Select the Font picker from the formatting options above the keyboard.
Select a font to apply it.

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.

Change the font size

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select Edit.
Select the part of the text that you'd like to change the size for.
Set the font size with the AAFont size picker from the formatting options above the keyboard.

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select Edit.
Select the part of the text that you'd like to change the size for.
Set the font size with the -+Font size picker from the formatting options above the keyboard.

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select the part of the text that you'd like to change the font for.
Set the font size with the Font size picker from the floating tool Dock.

Align text

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to edit.
Select Edit.
Select the text line that you'd like to align. Select all to align the whole text box content.
Select one of the alignment settings from the formatting options above the keyboard: Left, Center, Right, or Justified

Add web links to text

You can add web addresses to text boxes on your canvas. Once they're there, when you select them with the Hand Tool, you will be able to open the page in or outside Explain Everything.

Select the Hand Tool from the Toolbar.
Select the Text Box you'd like to add the link to.
Select Edit.
Paste or enter the web address to the text box.

Note: Make sure you typed in or pasted the link in the proper URL format and with the correct domain name, e.g. http://www.example.com.

Inserting web links into your Text Box is not yet supported.

You can add web addresses to text boxes on your canvas. Once they're there, when you select them with the Hand Tool, you will be able to open the page in a new tab.

Select Edit.
Paste or enter the web address to the text box.

Note: Make sure you typed in or pasted the link in the proper URL format and with the correct domain name, e.g. http://www.example.com.
