Explain Everything Whiteboard works on all devices and with all the most popular systems: iOS iPadOS, and Mac, Chrome OS and Android. It can also be run on most modern non-mobile devices with Internet access and a web browser.

Despite efforts to make the platform as uniform as possible, there are a few differences you can come across while working on different devices. This article demonstrates the most crucial ones.

Cloud vs local working mode

You don’t have to be constantly online to be able to use Explain Everything Whiteboard — unless you are using the web version of the app.

Note: When working on the web version of Explain Everything Whiteboard, your projects will always be saved in the Explain Everything Drive cloud. When offline, on the iOS, iPadOS, Mac, or Android versions, you won’t be able to share your work or save it any other way than using local storage. Tip: Despite the limited number of integrations in the web version, you can easily add more files to the canvas either by dragging and dropping or from the folders and applications saved on your computer (or from a cloud's local folders or external storage device).

Explain Everything comes with advanced screen recording capabilities. You can record the actions taken on the canvas, or the voice-overs, and also capture this in 3 different recording modes.

Note: There are 12 different fonts available on any version that look good displayed on every device. When on an iPad, you can also choose iOS-only fonts which might not look the same on other devices.

Deployment and administration

There’s a difference between the activation of tablet users and web users as well. Each web user needs to have a named account on drive.explaineverything.com, while there are many other options on tablets. We support device-based deployment, whitelisting domains and registering users with no emails.
